Studio Policies

2019-2020 School Year

FAITH: We are a faith based, Christ-centered, Holy Spirit led dance school.  Praying to Jesus, teachings from the Bible, and physical signs of worship are a part of our school culture. Each registered student is expected to participate in their class prayer/bible/worship times.

ETIQUETTE: Rivers Dance Arts expects students to treat each other, their teachers and the staff with respect. This includes treating fellow students and their belongings with courtesy and kindness, maintaining a polite, attentive and hardworking attitude with teachers, and avoiding gossip and/or negativity.

FACILITY:  Respect must be shown to every property Rivers’ classes are held at. Food and drinks are allowed in the lobby and common areas at all locations; however, only water is allowed in the dance studio. Absolutely no gum chewing inside the studio and especially during class.  Please be courteous and pick up trash after you have finished eating.

LOST AND FOUND: Rivers Dance Arts is not responsible for any items left behind, lost or stolen at any RDA location. All dancers are encouraged to keep dance bags in view at all times, and to refrain from bringing valuables to the school. Items found will be placed in the lost and found. The lost and found will be emptied at the end of each school year.

Tuition and Fees

TUITION: Tuition is due on the 1st of each month. Tuition is nontransferable. If, for whatever reason, we have not received payment by the 10th of the month, a late fee of $15 will be added to your account. Returned checks are subject to a $10 NSF charge and the late fee. THERE ARE NO REFUNDS, TRANSFERS, CREDITS OR EXTENSIONS given for classes missed, except in the case of injury or prolonged illness (doctor’s note required).

REGISTRATION FEE: The yearly registration fee is non-refundable.

PRO-RATED CLASSES: Classes are not pro-rated for existing students.

UNEXPECTED INTERRUPTION OF CLASSES: If classes must be cancelled due to extreme weather or events beyond our control, any missed classes can be made up. No refunds will be given.

Attendance

ATTENDANCE: All students are expected to inform Rivers Dance Arts of their absence prior to their scheduled class time. Missing a class without informing the studio will be considered an unexcused absence and will not be eligible for make-up.

PROMPTNESS: Students must be on time for class and rehearsals. Dancers arriving more than 15 minutes late may be asked to sit and takes notes instead of being allowed to participate in class. We suggest you arrive 10 minutes prior to your class to have time to change, stretch and prepare for the class. Warming up at the beginning of class is crucial to injury prevention.

CHILD PICK-UP: Please pick up your child after their class or classes have been completed. Please do not leave your child at any Rivers Dance Arts location longer than 15 minutes after their class schedule has finished.  Leaving them with an older sibling who is in class is a distraction to the sibling who is trying to take class.

Class Information

MAKE-UP CLASSES are available for currently enrolled students whose tuition and other studio payments are current. Make-up classes are optional. Make-ups must be taken within 4 weeks of class(es) missed, are subject to space availability, and will be taken in a class other than the class missed. All make-ups must be scheduled by emailing Rivers Dance Arts. There are no makeups for a missed make-up. No refunds, credits or extensions will be given if your dancer cannot attend any make-up classes.

CLASS PLACEMENT: All class placement decisions are made by the instructors based on age, ability and previous classroom performance.  Placements are reviewed for accuracy, and adjustments will be made after classes begin if necessary.

SCHEDULE CHANGES: Any class with less than 5 students registered is subject to cancellation. Rivers Dance Arts reserves the right to revise the curriculum and schedule at any time.

SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS: Rivers Dance Arts reserves the right to provide a substitute teacher without notice if the regularly scheduled teacher is ill or otherwise unable to teach class.

CLASS WITHDRAWAL: Written notification (email okay) is required for all class withdrawals. Registration fees and costume fees are nonrefundable
